Our farm to your fork
We are farmers here in Stow Maries and we serve our own grass-fed salt marsh beef and lamb. Other meat and ingredients are carefully sourced from local producers and freshly cooked by our chef Lee. We pride ourself on our Sunday Roast Dinner.

Grass fed beef and lamb from our farm to your fork
We’re farmers that bought our local country pub. Our food is hearty country pub fare that you would normally see in the farmhouse kitchen. Nothing fancy, but we really care about the quality of the produce we serve. We have farmed on Morris Farm in Stow Maries, next door to the Prince Of Wales, since the 60s.

All the lamb and beef we serve at the Prince of Wales is grass fed comes from our farm. The other meat and produce that we serve is very carefully selected to meet the standards we expect on our own farm.

Stow Maries’ English Wine from the Crouch Valley Region
Among the vineyards of the Crouch Valley. Enjoy vineyard walks or wine tasting and drink local English wine in the pub.
Footpaths with circular walks through the vineyards leave from the pub garden. We serve Stow Maries wine from Hollands in the pub and we run wine tastings and wine walks.
We are perfectly positioned to access beautiful Essex countryside, Crouch Valley Vineyards and the Saltmarsh path, making it an ideal destination for walkers looking to combine a walks followed by a great lunch in a traditional country pub.
We look forward to welcoming your family. We have a new children’s play area, a children’s menu inc burgers made with beef from our farm (no nasties!). Children enjoy meeting our goats and enjoying walks in the countryside. There is one area of the main pub that is kept as no children, but children are welcome in our family room, our Orangery and our Timber Tent. Feel free to ask us if you need a high chair.

Can I stay overnight in a camper van?
Yes! Campervans are very welcome and there’s no need to let us know in advance. We have a fresh water tap in the field, and we leave our Orangery open overnight so you can access the toilets. We don’t charge for campervan stays – all we ask is that you eat and drink with us in the pub during your stay. You can book your table here.
Do you cater for gluten-free, vegan and other dietary requirements?
Yes! We have gluten-free and vegan options available and will always do our best to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies. Please let us know when booking and speak to a member of the team when you arrive, particularly if you have an allergy.
Do you serve breakfast?
Friday & Saturday: 8am–11am On Sundays, breakfast is available to hotel guests only from 8:30am–9:30am.
Are you dog friendly?
Yes! Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at The Prince of Wales. We just ask that dogs are kept under control and on a lead where appropriate, particularly around livestock.
Are there any walks near the pub?
Yes! We’re lucky to have lots of lovely countryside walks and public footpaths around us, some of which go through the beautiful vineyards of the Crouch Valley. You can find some of our favourite routes and more information on our walks page here.
Can I book a party, celebration or private event?
Yes! We host birthdays, celebrations, wakes, meetings, corporate days and all sorts of private events, with different spaces available depending on what you’re looking for.
